Ok, Boy keeps ragging on me for not seeing all these "good" movies, so I figure, if I'm going to start catching up (supposedly all he ever does is inhale movies) I'm going to need some suggestions of what I need to see. I'm thinking I'll have seen most of them, but this may also help fellow "non-afficionados" like myself too.

Go here: http://www.imdb.com/chart/top
And make sure you've seen at least half of the Top 100.

Yeah, I'm not quite that clueless, but boy might say otherwise...
The man doesnt even like Quentin Tarantino movies, this is what I have to deal with.

your favorite movie sux. and so does your favorite band! Ok, while I am sure we all appreciate the constructive post (and perfect grammar), could someone tell me where anyone said anything about a favorite band?

It's funny because I watched Casino first and I keep flip flopping back and forth between Casino and Goodfellas. I think that goodfellas edges it out just a little. Casino was good, but I think Goodfellas was a more (sorrry for the critic word) gripping movie from a standpoint of a look into the world of the mafia. Regardless, the movies are practially identical so it really makes no difference.
...oh yeah, and I seriously think that if a "Vacation" movie should be on the list, it should be just that... "Vacation," not "Christmas Vacation." Vacation is a classic, CV is a close second though.

Don't take it personally it's an inside joke between Boy, him, and me. We want to make a shirt that says, "Your favorite band sucks!" and see how many people we can easily offend.

I'm going to try and revive this thread a little.....even though I am by no means a movie buff.
I would like to add the first 2 Rocky's to the list. After that, the series goes a little downhill, but the first 2, especially the first, are great movies. You gotta understand that I am a HUUUUGE sports fan, so you prob see the direction I am heading with some of these.
A handful of others that weren't on the original lists:
The Hustler
Hoosiers
Bull Durham
A Streetcar Named Desire
Dazed and Confused
The Fugitive
One Flew over the Cuckoos Nest
The Godfather (part 1)
Taxi Driver
The Deer Hunter
Raging Bull
Cool Hand Luke
Stand By Me
and my sleeper and one that none of you have probably ever heard of....
The Fish that Saved Pittsburgh

+rep for the walk down memory lane! What's odd is that I was just thinking about this movie yesterday. Maybe I heard the song or something, I don't know. But the movie came into my head. Good ole' Morgan Freeman showing tough love to some highschool punks! Then Jim Belushi tried to do it in "The Principal".... what a load.

Since I changed my avatar to it, thought I'd throw out "Spaceballs". Talk about quality 80's comedy. Quite possibly the best Mel Brooks had to offer. Some talk about Blazzing Saddles, but Rick Moranis as Dark Helmet owns above all.
Edit: I also wanted to mention "Young Frankenstein", another Brooks must-see.

Ummm wrong movie man. Stand By Me is the one where the teenage boys go looking for a dead kid's body. Lean On Me is the Morgan Freeman movie.
