President Bush submitted a plan to increase government payments to families of U.S. troops killed in Iraq and Afghanistan and future war zones to $250,000. Although Democrats are arguing that this increase should apply to all active-duty personnel.

I for one am for this 100%. If they wanted to take half my pay and donate it to our soldiers' families I would agree. We have all argued the benefits of wellfare and social programs to people that don't deserve it, but this is a case where the benefactors most certainly do.

Your thoughts?

I support it, but I also agree with the Dems that all active duty peronnel should recieve it. I mean the guys who die when a helicopter goes down in training are still just as dead as thoose who get shot in Iraq. Their families are affected just as much.

I totally agree that its a good Idea and the troops deserve it. However i don't know about all active duty personell. If I'm not mistaken Active duty isnt always all that active and families of soldiers who died during duty would still get paid. Im not saying fighting soldiers are worth more than ones who are on active duty but not at war... OR am I?
