I'll create the league on Yahoo again and send the invites out to all of last year's participants. I'll attempt to get the draft day/time as close to the start of the regular season as possible. That way no one gets Vick'ed!

I just picked a random day for the draft. If anyone has a better day they'd like, please suggest it. I want it to be as close to the start of the season as possible (Sept. 10th).

Yahoo regulates their server loads so that not every day and time is available the closer we get to the start of the season. So we need to lock this down quickly.

Weekdays or Weekends, guys? Once we decide I'll see what days are available.

The whole point of assigning points to certain actions is to appropriately reward players for their actions. Should we not use offensive points as a basis for all the rest of our points being assigned?

It's friday, and I am tired, but my rambling is trying to say that we should try to reflect fantasy points as actual points, so if you put the players you have on the field together and summed their performances you might net your fantasy score...now I know defensive plays are hard to assign, but that's why it is fantasy.

I really can't proofread this so good luck understanding it. But return yards should be at least 15 yds = 1 pt, but more like 20 yds = 1

I should have joined right away. It is hard as hell for me to make any money now and that isn't an Obama blast...I don't think it is on him. Man I wasn't trying to get the time changed or anything. I just figured I was screwed.

But if it can be done then that would be great! IF, and it is not etched in stone yet, this outing does go on, I believe it is to start at like 9 AM but it could be 8 AM. Figure 5 hours to play, an hour or so to fill my gullet and collect my winnings and a 5 minute drive to my house and I should be home by no later than a little after 3 that afternoon.

Whatever works for everyone else is cool. This outing is for my wife's grandfather's church. Because it is Labor Day weekend, the organizers are not sure that they can get enough players for it to be worthwhile, so it very easily could be moved to another weekend and all this is moot.

The draft is at 12 PDT, which being 3 PM EST should give me enough time to rule the golf course and still make it back for the draft if the thing starts when I think it does. I played in a similar event this past weekend and it was an hour away, started @ 8:30 AM and I had to stop at the grocery on the way home and I was home before 4 PM. This thing is less than 5 minutes from my house, so I should have no issues, or should miss very little of it.

We ought to also check out another fantasy game....

It's called Elimination or Survival Football or something like that.

The premise is simple. Pick the outright winner of 1 game each week. You cannot pick the same team twice. Last one alive wins.

It is pretty simple as it only takes about 10 seconds to do each week and is waaay more difficult than it sounds. I have been playing for about a decade, including one deal where the winner takes home a cool $100,000.

That league is sort of an underground thing, at least it was at creation. I got into that grew and grew to epic proportions. It started before most people involved were using the interwebs. You actually cannot partake in it, you have to be invited. Guess who's the cool guy??? You got it...me. Oh wait, I am just the guy who is out $150 every year.

I can create the league or whoever commish's our fantasy league can. Whatever is easier. Will people even participate or will it be just me and fungus?

Wait, what are we doing now?It's another type of fantasy league.Yahoo! Sports Survival Football is a weekly game that challenges you to show your skills by correctly identifying a winning professional football team in each of the 17 weeks of the regular season.

Each week you must select one team that you suspect will be a winner in its game that weekend. If that professional team wins, you remain Active and live to pick again the following week. If the professional football team you selected loses (or the game ends in a tie), you incur a Strike (i.e., a miss) and could be Eliminated from the competition and may no longer make future picks, depending on your group's settings.


To make this simple sounding game more of a challenge, you can only select each professional football team once while an Active member of an individual group.

I am pretty sure that Yahoo has a setting that allows you to make the deadline for picks be Sunday at 1 EST, so you can pick the Thursday games or if you don't get to them in time, you still have the bulk of the games to choo choo choose from.

Crumbles, I know there was description in there, but in really simple terms.....Pick the winner of 1 NFL game in week 1. If your team loses, you are eliminated. If your team wins, you pick the winner of 1 NFL game in week 2, but you cannot pick the team you picked in week 1. Rinse. Repeat. Last one to still be picking games wins.

Hey, I finally moved up to 3 after not getting anyone this week.

The way I understand it is that the system looks at the team with #1 priority. If they have a claim, they get it and drop to 14. Then 2. If 2 has a claim, they get it and move to 14 moving team #1 to 13.
Rinse.
Repeat until no more waiver claims are left.

Realized I accidentally had the playoffs set to "4 teams - week 15 and 16" and meant to have it set to "6 teams - week 14, 15, and 16" like we have always had it.

I changed it to the 6 team playoffs. This shaves one game off the end of everyone's season, but at least we don't have to play any teams twice.

If anyone hates it, I can switch it back. Additionally, would you guys rather have an 8 team playoff or is 6 good enough?
